Useful answers about the service, public notices and your briefing.
Using BriefAhead
What does BriefAhead help me do?
Find public-sector work that could suit your business, with less time spent searching. BriefAhead filters selected procurement notices by your services, area and preferred contract size. See who is buying, what they need, the published value and deadline, then open the original notice to decide whether to pursue it.
Who is BriefAhead for?
UK small and medium-sized businesses supplying public bodies. You can choose cleaning and facilities, construction and trades, training, IT and technology, professional services, goods and other services. You do not need to be a technology supplier or have a procurement team.
How do I get more relevant results?
Choose your main service, add specific services separated by commas, and set your preferred area and contract-value range. If you add keywords, a notice must contain at least one in its title or description to match. Without keywords, matching uses your service category. A match suggests relevance; check the buyer’s requirements to confirm eligibility.
Where do the notices come from?
The current collection contains selected recent records from the official Find a Tender service. It is not a complete directory of UK contracts, and some opportunities appear only on other procurement portals. Each result links to its original source so you can check the full requirements, amendments and latest status.
Can I apply for a contract through BriefAhead?
Use BriefAhead to find and assess opportunities, then follow the original notice to the buyer’s procurement portal. Submit bids, registration details and questions through the process the buyer specifies. BriefAhead does not submit bids or guarantee a contract.
Briefings and public records
What do Open, Planning and Awarded mean?
Open indicates a published opportunity with a response process; check its deadline and current status at the source. Planning describes potential future purchases or early engagement. Awarded records show contracts already awarded and can help you understand a buyer’s spending. A buying plan or contract end date does not guarantee a future tender.
Why are some values or locations missing?
Not every notice gives a clear contract value or delivery location. Missing information stays labelled as unknown, and these records may still appear in your results. A published value can cover several years, multiple lots or a whole framework; it is not necessarily the value available to one supplier.
Can I receive opportunities by email?
Email subscriptions are unavailable. Browse and filter notices on the website now, and save useful opportunities in your shortlist. No payment is needed for these features.
How are the descriptions produced?
Descriptions currently use extracts from the published notice. Service categories and keyword matching help organise results. Check the original documents before deciding to bid: an extract cannot include every requirement, and the buyer may publish amendments after a notice is collected.
Access, pricing and support
Is BriefAhead free to use?
Browsing notices, setting a business profile and saving results in this browser are free. No card is needed. The £49 per month customer subscription covers personalised email briefings for one business profile, but is unavailable at present. You cannot start a subscription or be charged. Full service limits and any applicable tax will be shown before payment is available.
Have I started a paid subscription?
No. Browsing the site, setting preferences or saving a notice does not create a subscription or charge you. Paid checkout is not available. When subscriptions open, renewal and cancellation terms will be shown before you pay.
Do I need a verified email address?
You can browse and save notices without an account or email address. Account sign-in and email subscriptions are unavailable at present.
Can I use two-factor authentication?
Account sign-in is unavailable at present. You can browse and save notices without creating an account.
Where are my profile and saved notices kept?
Your preferences, saved notice IDs and copies of their public details are stored in this browser on this device. Saved details remain available when notices leave the main feed; check the original source for updates. Use Account to export or clear your data. Clearing browser data may remove it. Signed-in accounts and cross-device sync are not currently available.
What happens to the information I enter?
Business preferences, saved notice IDs and copies of public notice details stay in this browser. If you contact us, your email address and message are sent to BriefAhead so we can respond. Sending an enquiry does not subscribe you to marketing. Read the privacy notice for details, and keep passwords, payment information and sensitive personal data out of enquiries.
How can I get help or report a problem?
Visit Support for help with matching, notice types and saved items. For a question or technical problem, use the contact form. Include the notice link where relevant, what happened and what you expected. Questions about a tender itself should go to the buyer through the process in the original notice.
